I wrote this song to Traci long ago, after hearing the Supernatural Family Band perform Dylan's One More Cup of Coffee and realizing that the Hancocks were truly the best kind of gypsies you could ever hope to encounter. They gave beauty and music. One or more of them might steal your heart, but none of them would steal your chickens.
Now that I care, now that I truly, deeply care . . .
It's been so long since you been gone
Wherever you are, I sing you this song
No one could ever know or truly believe
All the worlds we traveled through on that New Year's Eve
You chase the clouds away and scatter gray
The way you say my name gives me a brighter day
You could steal my heart, I only wish you would
That is not your way. We'll get together one sweet day
Dance, Gypsy, Dance! Sing, Gypsy, Sing! Sing and Dance!
Dance, Gypsy, Dance! Sing, Gypsy, Sing! Sing and Dance!
I love your big blue eyes, the way your black hair flows
My love begins to rise, my heart sends you this rose
May true love prevail, as long as starlight glows
My heart will fly when we get together, Goodness knows
Dance, Gypsy, Dance! Sing, Gypsy, Sing! Sing and Dance!
